SW 101 - Introduction to Social Work

Students will be able to analyze common forms of structural oppression as expressed in social groups.

Students will be able to identify and describe the core values reflected in the ethical principles as expounded by the National Association of Social Workers.

Students will be able to identify the basic fields of practice in Social Work.

SW 250 - Social Welfare, History, and Policy

Students will be able to identify and analyze which level of government is responsible for managing specific social policies.

Students will be able to describe and identify conservative, liberal, and radical political ideologies and their influence on social work policy development.

Students will be able to examine the effects of current trends and policy choices on social service provisions and clients.

Students will be able to explain and analyze social policy, in terms of the policy objectives, who benefits from it, who does not, utilizing electronic data sources to identify relevant scholarly resources.
