SOC 101 - Principles of Sociology

Students will be able to apply modern sociological theories to systematically analyze social structure.

Students will be able to explain how culture and societal structure have shaped their development and life chances.

Students will be able to identify fundamental concepts and theories within the field of sociology and describe sociological methods of inquiry into human social relations.

SOC 110 - Conflict Resolution

Students will be able to communicate appropriate resolution approaches to conflicts.

Students will be able to analyze conflict of various types and levels.

Students will be able to model resolution techniques.

SOC 205 - Race and Ethnicity in Everyday Life

Students will be able to distinguish between "minority" and "majority" groups, providing historical and contemporary examples of each.

Students will be able to compare and contrast the cultural experiences of selected immigrant groups throughout the history of the United States.

Students will be able to collect, compile, and synthesize research findings about specific ethnic groups in interaction with one another in contemporary American society.

SOC 210 - Introduction to Statistical Methods

Students will be able to determine the appropriate statistical technique to use within specific research situations.

Students will be able to interpret statistical outcomes in relation to research questions and also evaluate findings in terms of validity.

Students will be able to use various statistical analyses.

SOC 261 - Introduction to Social Psychology

Students will be able to describe and analyze one of the four major theoretical perspectives in social psychology.

Students will be able to identify interactions between individuals and situations and explain how these relationships govern behavior.

Students will be able to recognize behaviors in the areas of the self, attitudes, social influence, relationships, pro and anti-social behavior, prejudice, cooperation, and conflict.
