DA 122 - Clinical Dental Science

Students will be able to correctly match terms and definitions associated with aspects of oral pathology such as diseased tissues, trauma and genetic malformations.

Students will be able to recognize symptoms and list steps of BSL (basic life support) for patients experiencing anaphylactic shock, allergic reaction, hypo and hyperglycemia, angina pectoris, airway obstruction, asthma, syncope, cerebrovascular accident and myocardial infarction.

DA 125 - Supervised Clinical I

Students will be able to demonstrate operative skills to set-up and assist the doctor with a composite procedure on a patient; completing all duties associated with the procedure from operatory prep to patient dismissal and operatory disinfection.

Students will be able to correctly place x-rays in the patient's mouth and expose them using the correct angulation technique, machine setting and safety precautions to safely produce diagnostically acceptable radiographs.

Students will be able to follow clinical site rules, and accept constructive criticism from dentist and staff to improve performance.
